Einstein himself practiced the art of protecting his ideas. Not only did Einstein published three path-breaking papers in 1905, a year becoming referred to as the miracle year. Einstein is also an example in the use of patents, filing some 48 patents, protecting his many ideas that heralded new technologies. All ideas are important, from bio developments in medical marijuana, ground breaking research in Diabetes, Malaria or Alzheimer’s, through to packaging that is more environmentally friendly and new compounds that make building materials better for us all. Ideas are our future and ‘World Intellectual Property Day’ is an important reminder of this.
